Drugs face quality issues

Drugs face quality issues. Drugs worth more than Rs. 6 billion are facing quality issues due to improper storage.

The Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) has disclosed that drugs worth Rs. 6,259 million are facing quality issues due to improper storage from 2011 to 2020. They further disclosed that 99% of these drugs have already been given to patients and they were not in a position to recover the cost from the suppliers.

It has been noted that drugs are not stored in the right environments or at the right temperatures. It is recommended to implement a system of checking the quality as and when the drugs are received.
