The current showery and windy conditions over the island are expected to improve slightly today and over the next few days.
Showers or thundershowers are expected in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as the districts of Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle, and Matara. Heavy showers of more than 100 mm are possible in some of these areas.
Several showers are possible in the Anuradhapura district.
Showers or thundershowers are expected in a few areas of the Ampara and Batticaloa districts in the evening or night.
Strong winds of (40-50) kmph can be expected at times in the western slopes of the central hills, the Northern, North-Central, and North-Western provinces, as well as the districts of Trincomalee and Hambantota.
The general public is urged to take appropriate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
