Today, the Meteorology Department has issued an amber warning for heavy rain, strong winds, and rough seas (24).
As a result of the active cloudiness to the west of Sri Lanka, heavy showers or thundershowers are expected in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Mannar.
Furthermore, the possibility of heavy showers or thundershowers, as well as sudden roughness, is high in the above-mentioned deep and shallow sea areas due to a sudden increase in wind speed (up to 60-70 kmph).
In the above-sea areas, the naval and fishing communities are asked to be especially vigilant.
