A 31-year-old monk was found dead in the Pansiyagama district yesterday afternoon after being attacked by a trap gun.
Police said the monk belonged to the Nauyana Forest Buddhist Monastery in Kurunegala. The body of the
monk was found near the river near the monastery, with the advice of police.
A investigation revealed that the monk left the monastery that morning to give alms and was hit in the head by a trap gun, usually used to scare animals.
The monk fell near the river and was injured. Police said the suspect who installed the trap gun had not yet been identified.
Pansiyagama Police have launched an investigation to arrest the suspect.
