A police Sub Inspector (SI) from the Pelmadulla Police Station was killed in an accident on the Ratnapura-Pelmadulla Road in Pelwadiya, Ratnapura, yesterday.
According to police, the SI’s three-wheeler lost control and collided head-on with a lorry coming from the opposite direction.
The SI who was driving the three-wheeler was critically injured in the accident and died after being admitted to Ratnapura Hospital.
A 56-year-old Marapana resident was killed. The lorry driver has been apprehended, and the Ratnapura Police Department is conducting additional investigations.
