A proposal to privatize CEYPETCO filling stations

Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera states that the government is focusing on handing over the petrol stations owned by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation to other companies. Accordingly, the relevant Cabinet paper is expected to be presented to the Cabinet tomorrow (27), the Minister said.

The Minister said that it is proposed to hand over 1,690 filling stations owned by the Corporation to companies in fuel producing countries such as the IOC.

The Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera further stated that the government will impose a condition in providing such fuel and that fuel should be imported from their companies on loan basis for at least one year or six months.
