A thorough road map for excavations in the nation intended to collect gas and crude oil was requested by COPA from the Ministry of Power and Energy authorities.
The Ministry of Power and Energy personnel were given the aforementioned instructions at the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) meeting that was conducted recently (22) under the chairmanship of the Honorable (Prof.) Tissa Vitarana, Member of Parliament.
The Ministry’s representatives gave a presentation on the proposed and ongoing Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) mining projects in Sri Lanka, highlighting the challenges these projects face.
The present members of parliament enquired about the parties concerned. In addition, they enquired as to whether outside governments needed to advise on the excavations. There was no need for such guidance from other governments, according to the in attendance officials.
Therefore, COPA urged the officials to finish the excavations as soon as possible since it is in the best interest of the nation and a road map should be created as soon as possible for the excavations.
