All police personnel has been given orders by the police not to obstruct requests from the general public to unlock the fuel storage tanks at filling stations.
The Police Media Division has thus issued a warning to the general public asking them NOT to ask police officers or other police officials on duty at gas stations to unlock storage tanks.
People have lined up to ask the police to open the tanks where fuel has been stored, according to a statement from the Police Media Unit.
The Police Headquarters made it clear that police officers would be held accountable for any acts of sabotage that occurred while storage tanks were being opened.
The message went on to highlight that it was NOT the responsibility of the police to open the petroleum storage tanks and that ONLY those who are authorized should do it securely.
