Do not get caught in the IMF trap: Vasudeva

Published:

Former Minister Vasudeva Nanayakkara says that current Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the President are acting in the interests of American diplomacy.

During a press conference, the MP, who recently declared himself independent, stated that Sri Lanka should not be “caught” in the International Monetary Fund’s net.

The MP stated that, while the IMF has several commendable programs, such as the debt restructuring program, Sri Lanka should be cautious not to become trapped by the organization’s constraints.

Wasantha Bandara, Leader of the Patriotic National Front (PNF), also participated in the media briefing and stated that approaching the IMF would result in a decrease in State service, as well as local resources being taken over and protests.
