Fuel crisis UPDATE – Private bus operations drop by 20%

The country’s public transportation system has been hit the hardest by the ongoing fuel crisis.

According to Gemunu Wijeratne, Chairman of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association, only 20% of the total number of buses were deployed on Friday (17).

Commander Nilan Miranda, Director of the National Transport Commission (NTC), stated that a special program has been prepared to release fuel for private buses.

However, steps have been taken to ensure that the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) bus services continue as usual.
