Fuel shipment due

It is reported that a vessel carrying 35,000 MT of petrol is due in the island
on 24th June 2022 and another vessel transporting furnace oil is due to arrive on the 28th of
this month.
The authorities have also revealed of a situation of the inability of moving a fuel tanker towards the
buoy for unloading, due to its large size. The said vessel is currently on international waters.
Sri Lanka received its last shipment of fuel on June 16th, June 2022. The fuel crisis has reached a peak with
long queues at petrol sheds and people having to wait for fuel for long hours and in some instances,
for days. The frustrations at lack of fuel has also led to altercations between the public and the
Police.
