Fuel token system starting on Monday (27)

Published:

Sri Lanka has made the decision to put into place a token system specifically for gas stations to provide fuel for drivers queuing up to buy Petrol & Diesel.

The program will begin on Monday (27), according to Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera, and support from the Sri Lanka Police, Sri Lanka Army, Navy, and Air Force will be sought to ensure the process is carried out without incident.

The token won’t be tampered with, according to the Minister, and it will be given exclusively to gas stations.

The general public was asked by the minister to avoid forming lines at gas stations since distribution would take precedence.

He stated that the Lanka IOC reserves would be used to purchase 10,000 MT of diesel.

Lanka IOC has asked for the allotment of more filling stations across the nation, according to Minister Wijesekara.

The Minister also mentioned that gasoline will be provided for certain industries, essential services like ports and aviation, and public transportation services like private buses.
