Furnace oil purchase. Minister of Power & Energy Kanchana Wijesekara has stated that a payment of $34 Million was made on yesterday, 21st June 2022 for a shipment of furnace fuel which will be unloaded today and used for power generation and industries.
The current existing 2.5 hour power cuts will continue until the Norochcholai Power Plant is once again connected to the National Grid. Plan 2 of the powerplant was shut down on 17th June 2022 for a period of 75 days for necessary maintenance.
