Hirunika leads protest opposite Prime Minister’s residence

Several protests are also taking place today in various parts of Colombo.

A protest led by former MP Hirunika Premachandra is taking place near Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe’s private residence.

Hirunika Premachandra’s Samagi Vanitha Balawegaya has gathered on the road opposite Thurstan College in Colombo 07.

The protest is being held to highlight the difficulties that people are experiencing as a result of the economic crisis.

Meanwhile, another protest has closed traffic on the Bank of Ceylon Mawatha in Colombo.

The public has held a number of protests in recent weeks to express their displeasure with the hardships brought on by the economic crisis.

Several essential items, particularly gas and fuel, are currently in short supply in Sri Lanka. The public has been forced to wait in line for hours or days to purchase gas and fuel.
