High Representative of Sri Lanka in India On Monday, February 27, Milinda Moragoda met with Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas as well as Housing and Urban Affairs, to discuss important issues relating to bilateral energy cooperation.
The conference took place in New Delhi’s Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.
First, High Commissioner Moragoda briefed Minister Puri on the tremendous sufferings that the people of Sri Lanka are currently experiencing as well as the critical challenges that the country is currently facing with relation to the supply and distribution of petroleum products.
The High Commissioner of Sri Lanka spoke with Minister Puri about the potential of obtaining the petrol and diesel supplies that Sri Lanka currently needs urgently while expressing gratitude to India for the support provided in the form of lines of credit to import fuel.
In this regard, Minister Puri gave a good response and promised the High Commissioner that Sri Lanka will get all possible support at this crucial time.
In order to help resolve the current issue and guarantee Sri Lanka’s energy security, the High Commissioner and the Minister also discussed ways that India and Sri Lanka may increase their collaboration in the petroleum industry.
In this regard, High Commissioner Moragoda and Minister Puri reviewed strategies for fostering long-term ties between Sri Lanka and countries in the petroleum, oil, and gas industries as well as logistics-related fields.
