Sri Lanka Police fired tear gas at an Inter University Students’ Federation protest in Pelawatte, Battaramulla, opposite the Education Ministry.
The IUSF was protesting unjust actions at Ruhuna and Kelaniya universities, as well as unjust punishments meted out to students.
When the IUSF attempted to enter the Education Ministry premises and pulled down the gate, the protest became tense.
