Johnston received a new bail order, 24 hours after the CA dismissed the application to prevent the arrest.

The Fort Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (22) issued a new bail order for former minister Johnston Fernando, who was identified as a suspect in the case brought about the attacks on MynaGoGama and GotaGoGama on May 9th, 2022.

The court ordered the former minister to appear at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on the last Sunday of every month between 9 AM and 12 PM.

The former minister was released on two personal bails of Rs. 10,000,000 each.

Additionally, he was told to go to the Criminal Investigations Department on June 24th and give a statement.

Bail was awarded for Former Minister Johnston Fernando, 24-hours after the Sri Lankan Court of Appeal dismissed a writ case submitted by Parliamentarian Johnston Fernando, who was seeking an order to prevent his detention.

In dismissing the case on Tuesday (21), the Court of Appeal stated that it believed that the learned Magistrate should issue new instructions in accordance with the law when the petitioner comes before him or when he is taken before the Magistrate in due course.

In accordance with the order issued by the Court of Appeal on June 9th, Johnston Fernando turned himself in to Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage at the Magistrate’s residence.

On that day, he was freed on two personal bails of Rs. 10 million each and was prohibited from leaving India.
