Ramsay Hunt syndrome has been diagnosed in Justin Bieber. Following the announcement, he updated fans on one “extremely frustrating” symptom.
On June 10, the singer revealed that he has Ramsay Hunt syndrome and that half of his face is paralyzed, forcing him to cancel concerts in order to rest and recover.
“It is from this virus that attacks the nerves in my ear and my facial nerves and has caused my face to have paralysis,” he explained.
“As you can see, this eye is not blinking. I can’t smile on this side of my face. This nostril will not move.”
He’s now discussing one of his medical condition’s more difficult symptoms.
“It’s been progressively harder to eat,” Justin wrote on Instagram, “which has been extremely frustrating.” “Please pray for me,” he added.
Justin previously told fans that he’s been doing “facial exercises” to get his face “back to normal.”
“We don’t know how long it will take, but everything will be fine,” the 28-year-old said in his original message.
“I believe in God and have hope. I believe that everything is happening for a reason, though I’m not sure what that reason is right now, so I’m going to rest.”
According to Mount Sinai Health System, Ramsay Hunt syndrome is caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which also causes chickenpox and shingles.
According to the organization, the virus affects a nerve near the ear, causing severe ear pain, hearing loss, rashes, and “weakness” on one side of the face.
Hailey Bieber expressed her support for Justin after he announced his medical condition on Instagram. “I love you, baby,” she wrote, accompanied by a teary-eyed emoji. (Hailey also had a recent medical scare, being hospitalized in March due to a blood clot in her brain.)
Other celebrities also expressed their affection for the “Peaches” singer. Continue reading to see their messages of encouragement
