Lack of USD makes it difficult for Norochcholai to buy coal.

Published:

Because there aren’t enough money in the country, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said that it is now impossible to order the coal needed for the Norochcholai Thermal Power Plant.

Therefore, from September 2022 to next April, according to PUCSL Chairman Janaka Ratnayake, there will be a difficulty with the provision of energy (2023).

Electricity must be produced for that time period using 2.2 million MT of coal, and its acquisition will cost $610 million.
