Mineka Wickramasinghe, the founder of Ceylon Biscuits, has passed away.

Mineka Wickramasinghe, the CBL Group’s founder and President Emeritus, died on Wednesday (March 15).

Wickramasinghe was well-known for developing a protein-enriched children’s biscuit in 1967, which became a nationwide initiative with the Ministry of Education to help prevent childhood malnutrition.

Mineka P. Wickramasinghe stepped down as Chairman of the Ceylon Biscuits (CBL) group in 2015, after nearly 48 years at the helm of the company he founded in 1968.
