No fuel for healthcare workers. Though the Government announced that 74 fuel stations across the island have been allocated to provide fuel for healthcare workers every Friday, the healthcare workers have stated that they have not been provided any fuel.
The operations of several hospitals including the Colombo National Hospital and the Apeksha Cancer Hospital have been hampered due to healthcare workers waiting in queues for several hours to obtain fuel.
It is noted that owners of certain fuel stations are unaware of the system implemented by the Government and are continuing to provide fuel for others as well. If the Government fails to implement this system properly, the Health Sector too is bound to collapse.
