NTC to discuss bus fare hike

Gemunu Wijeratne, President of the Lanka Private Bus Owners’ Association, stated that due to the fuel crisis, private bus operations could be reduced to 10% capacity today (27).

According to the National Transport Commission (NTC), recommendations on bus fare revisions will be submitted to the Ministry of Transport before July 1st.

Nilan Miranda, Director-General of the NTC, stated that relevant recommendations will be included in the National Policy.

The increase in bus fares follows yesterday’s increase in fuel prices.

Ceylon Petroleum Corporation announced that CEYPETCO fuel prices will be increased beginning at 2 a.m. on Sunday (26). At the same time, Lanka IOC announced that it had raised its fuel prices in response to the CPC price revision.
