Several Opposition parties including the Samagi Jana Balavegaya have decided to boycott Parliamentary proceedings this week.
The main opposition party, SJB has stated that it has decided to boycott Parliament over its
conduct. MP Sajith Premadasa has questioned the benefit of Parliament convening though it
has not resolved any of the issues.
MP Anura Kumara Dissanayake representing the National People’s Power has also stated that
the recent Parliamentary proceedings have not been beneficial; instead it has ignored and not
taken notice of the difficulties faced by the people.
The opposition parties have entreated the Government to submit a temporary plan on the
actions taken to address the crises. Until then, these parties will continue to boycott
Parliamentary proceedings.
