PM meets with IMF Managing Director


Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, met yesterday.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister discussed the country’s current economic situation with Kristalina Georgieva last evening.

The Prime Minister had requested that the IMF staff-level delegation visit Sri Lanka as soon as possible to finalize the staff-level agreement.

The Prime Minister also stated that bridging finance negotiations were contingent on Sri Lanka and the IMF reaching a staff-level agreement.

In response, the Prime Minister’s Office stated that the IMF Managing Director has expressed her willingness to assist Sri Lanka during these difficult times.
