When appointing Police OICs, a set of regulations set forth by the Public Service Commission must be followed.
After making changes to the suggestions the Inspector General of Police had provided to the Public Service Commission, the directives were sent to the IGP.
It was recently discovered that the Sri Lanka Police does not have an appropriate system in place to assign OIC to police stations.
The IGP then made a number of ideas to the Public Service Commission after the latter requested a report from him.
The IGP provided the report in response to a Public Service Commission enquiry over his claim that 182 OICs had been chosen based on political suggestions.
