Private member bill by MP Imtiaz Bakeer Markar. A Gazette notification has been issued on
the private member bill submitted by MP Imtiaz Bakeer Markar. The Bill proposed mandatory
allocation of 25% of the Nomination list to elect youth.
The Bill calls on all political parties to have a 25% representation of youth from each
electorate when submitting nominations for Parliamentary, Provincial, or Local Government
elections. Accordingly, anyone below the age of 35 will be considered a youth.
The SJB has already signed a pledge presented by Samagi Tharuna Balawegaya, its youth
wing, promising to ensure that 25% of nominations at all future elections will be that of
youth.
