Public views on electricity tariff revision will commence tomorrow


The Public Utilities Commission states that the public will be consulted for three weeks from tomorrow (28) regarding the proposal issued by the Public Utilities Commission to revise the electricity tariff.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission Janaka Ratnayake stated that it will be published on the official website and in newspaper advertisements tomorrow.

Accordingly, it has been proposed to increase the price of a unit of electricity which is currently 16 rupees to 28 rupees by the new amendment and to provide a relief program to consumers who consume less than 30, 60 and 90 units, he said.

Janaka Ratnayake stated that the revision of the electricity tariff will take place after 7 years and the purpose of this increase is to protect the CEB financially.
