Putin is about to leave for his first international trip as Iran launches a rocket into space.


Iran has reportedly launched a solid-fueled rocket into orbit, according to Iranian state media, ahead of the anticipated restart of the stalled negotiations over Tehran’s shattered nuclear agreement with international powers. After the invasion of Ukraine, Russian President Vladimir Putin will travel abroad for the first time.

State-run media broadcast dramatic pictures of the launch from Iran’s remote Semnan province’s Imam Khomeini Spaceport amid rising tensions over Tehran’s nuclear program.

Putin would visit Tajikistan and Turkmenistan before meeting Indonesian President Joko Widodo for discussions in Moscow, according to Pavel Zarubin, the Kremlin correspondent for state-run Rossiya 1 television.

The Australian Muslim community has accused Twitter of doing nothing to stop accounts that spread bigotry on its platform.
