Six cops injured in Athurugiriya petrol shed clash: Nine arrested

Sri Lanka Police arrested nine people in connection with the unrest that erupted late Friday at the Athurugiriya filling station (18).

SSP Nihal Thalduwa, a police spokesperson, told that a group of people waiting in line to pump fuel had broken into the filling station premises after it was announced that the station had run out of fuel.

He claimed that the mob attacked police officers.

According to the Police Spokesperson, all necessary measures were taken to control the situation, but six police officers were injured.
