Published:

According to Tissa Attanayake, the national organizer of Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), stated that they will launch street battles together with the people, calling for a change of Government.

He claimed that despite a 150 percent increase in the cost of living, the administration had not been able to stabilize the nation’s financial situation. With the sixth increase in fuel prices for the year, he claimed that they have been forced into an even more challenging situation.

Ananda Palitha, spokesman for the Samagi Trade Union Allianc, also stated that there is an effort to sell off more than 1000 filling stations owned by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and to permit private sector businesses to import and distribute petroleum.

Businessman and SJB organizer for Colombo North C. Y. P. Ram demanded an end to the power outage. The electricity issue has impacted numerous industries, he claimed.
