The newly appointed Army Commander meets the Navy Commander.

Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage, the 24th Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, met with Vice Admiral Nishantha Ulugetenne, Commander of the Navy, today at the Navy Headquarters (06th June 2022).

The visiting Commander of the Sri Lanka Army was greeted warmly by Director General (Administration), Rear Admiral Prasad Kariyapperuma, and was accorded a Guard of Honour in accordance with naval tradition.

Following that, the Commander of the Navy introduced the Board of Management, which included the Navy Chief of Staff, to the Commander of the Army.

The occasion was Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage’s first visit to the Navy Headquarters in Colombo following his elevation to the helm of the Sri Lanka Army on June 1, 2022.

After exchanging pleasantries, the two top brass held a cordial discussion in which Vice Admiral Ulugetenne wished Lieutenant General Vikum Liyanage success in carrying out his entrusted duties.

The two Commanders’ friendly meeting came to an end with an exchange of mementos to commemorate the significance of this special occasion.
