Trains will be unable to operate in the future – Sri Lanka Railways

Published:

Due to a lack of engine oil, Sri Lanka Railways has stated that trains will be unable to operate in the future.
According to a senior official at Sri Lanka Railways, the current level of engine oil would only last two months.
The Department of Railways stated that engine oil is imported to Sri Lanka from India and China, and that the dollar shortage has made opening Letters of Credit for this purpose impossible.
Several trains currently in operation will have to be taken out of service in such a case, he added.
