Two elephants were killed after being hit by a train.

Two wild elephants were killed and one was injured after being hit by a speeding train in the Thalpathakanda area of Habarana’s 120th mile post.

According to the Anuradhapura Railway Control Room, the wild elephants collided with a train transporting wheat flour to Seeduwa and returning to China Bay on Friday (3) night.

According to the control room, the train also derailed.

As a result, train service on the Batticaloa route has been halted.

According to the Railway Control Room, teams have been deployed to restore train movement along the route.
