Yesterday in Colombo, the General Conference of the “Struggle Winning Consensus,” convened by the Sarvapakshika Aragalakaruwo, a civil group that supports the “GotaGoHome” people’s struggle, took place.
Participants in the conference included representatives from a number of opposition political parties, civil organizations, trade unions, and the general public, including demonstrators at the Galle Face protest site.
The purpose of the conference was to rally support from the majority of the population, including members of the public and opposition political parties, for the group’s planned public protest on July 9.
During the convention, the Sarvapakshika Aragalakaruwo also offered a 4-point proposal.
Samagi Jana Balawegaya and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa, as well as Maithripala Sirisena of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Mano Ganesan of the Tamil Progressive Alliance, and MPs Tissa Attanayake and Dayasiri Jayasekera, among others, were all spotted attending the conference.
