13 arrests were made after a tense situation at a fuel station in Wellawaya. Thirteen people have been detained for acting erratically at a Wellawaya filling station. According to the Police, the said incident occurred last night, 5th July
The fuel station’s notification that the supply of petrol available for distribution had run out caused a tense atmosphere as people were waiting in line. Afterwards, people had started hurling bottles and stones at the filling station.
The altercation resulted in the injury of a police officer and some minor damage to the filling station.
In connection with the incident, 13 people, purportedly ranging in age from 18 to 45, have been detained, and the Police have also seized 20 motorcycles.
Today, the accused would appear before the Wellawaya Magistrate’s Court.
