AKD puts two conditions for withdrawing from the Presidential election.

Published:

Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of the JVP, has stated that he is willing to withdraw from the race for the presidency if all parties agree to nominate two non-aspiring MPs for the Presidency and Premiership.

He added that they are also willing to assume responsibilities in an upcoming interim government, on the condition that two such MPs are nominated for the positions of president and prime minister, and that a short-term action plan is agreed upon to stabilize the country in a short period of time and prepare for new elections as quickly as possible.

Today (17), Anura Kumara Dissanayake addressed the media after meeting with a group of Galle Face protestor representatives at the party’s headquarters.
