Appeal from Former Army Commander Sarath Fonseka. Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, a former Commander of the Army, has pleaded with the tri-forces not to carry out the directives given by Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is claiming to be the acting President of Sri Lanka.
Sarath Fonseka, a Member of Parliament, claimed in a statement that Ranil Wickremesinghe had declared himself to be the Acting President and that any orders issued by such a person would be in violation of the Constitution.
He claimed that there is a high likelihood of a conflict between the three forces and the country’s inhabitants due to the widespread rumors among anti-government protestors that a firing order has been issued.
MP Sarath Fonseka advised the tri-forces to target corrupt politicians rather than innocent, unarmed civilians when deploying their weapons.
