‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ new image teases James Cameron’s visually stunning sequel

Published:

Empire magazine has released a new image from ‘Avatar: The Way of Water.’ The film is the sequel to James Cameron’s 2009 science-fiction epic ‘Avatar,’ which is the highest-grossing film to date and set the standard for 3D quality. It was widely praised for its stunning visuals, and fans expect the sequels to be no different.

The first of these, ‘The Way of Water,’ expands on the world introduced in the first film.

Apart from Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, Giovanni Ribisi, Sigourney Weaver (in a different role), and Matt Gerald returning from the original movie. Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, and Vin Diesel join the franchise with the sequel.

Cameron recently stated that he may not direct the final two Avatar movies. What’s the reason? The amount of effort required to direct a film of that size.

“I’ve got some other things I’m developing as well that are exciting,” he told Empire. I think, eventually – I’m not sure if it’ll be after three or four years – I’ll want to pass the baton to a director I trust to take over, so I can go do some other stuff that interests me.”

The film Avatar: The Way of Water’ will be released on December 16, 2022.
