Cause of death of Kandakadu inmate revealed. Unrest broke out after one of the 997 prisoners of the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Center passed away on June 29th, 2022.
The inmate who passed away at the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre in Polonnaruwa suffered internal complications as a result of injuries caused by blunt force trauma to every part of his body, according to the results of the post-mortem examination.
The Welikanda police detained four sergeants who were part of the Sri Lankan Army and Air Force, over the said incident. The Polonnaruwa Chief Magistrate ordered their continued detention till July 14.
