CPC questioned on non-ordering of fuel shipments

CPC questioned on non-ordering of fuel shipments. The President and Finance Ministry have questioned the senior management of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) about why a fuel cargo has not been ordered before July 22 despite being informed that the money is available to be released.

The CPC had responded that because the premiums were so high, they were waiting for the next fuel cargo, which was scheduled to arrive on July 22.

The CPC was questioned by representatives of the Finance Ministry over why they were delaying placing fresh orders while the Treasury was prepared to disburse the funds, including the premium price to obtain a fuel shipment from a reputable supplier as soon as possible.
