Discovery of stolen weapon. The Sri Lankan Navy has discovered the firearm that was taken from an Army soldier during the anti-government demonstration on July 13th near the Parliament.
According to the police, during the demonstration that took place at Battaramulla close to the Polduwa Junction, protesters attacked an Army soldier and grabbed a T-56 gun and some ammunition.
On Saturday, Sri Lanka Navy divers found the assault rifle and an empty magazine underneath the Diyawannawa Bridge.
The Welikada Police has received the gun and empty magazine and is carrying out more investigations.
