Published:

The Dehiwala Zoological Park, which has remained one of Sri Lanka’s main tourist attractions for 86 years, celebrates its centennial.

The Dehiwala Zoo, which opened in 1936, now has approximately 4,000 animals, and feeding these animals costs approximately Rs. 45 million.

Accordingly, in view of the current economy in the country, in conjunction with the 86th anniversary, a new foster program named ‘Sathva Sawiya’ and a donation scheme was initiated today (03).

Under this program, any Sri Lankan citizen can take responsibility for one or more animals and provide them with food and other necessities.
