In a special speech, he added that he will endeavor to improve peoples’ standard of living.
Alahapperuma claimed that Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa had made a historic choice to support him, adding that this was done to instill a new political culture in the nation and for the good of the populace.
Sajith Premadasa, the Leader of the opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya party, stated that he took the choice to reintroduce the 19th Amendment to the Constitution in order to protect citizens’ rights.
He added that he wanted to make the country’s economy better while also granting the people’s wishes.
