Flight Training Academy to be established. The Batticaloa Airport was built by the Sri Lanka Aviation Force and the Road Development Authority as a destination for local air tours in 2018. However, since there are no tolls for landing or parking, the airport currently has no income.
Given the aforementioned reality, it has been found that the airport space is suitable for other beneficial uses.
As a result, the recommendation made by the Minister of Ports, Naval, and Civil Aviation for the invitation of competitive proposals to establish a flight training institution at the airport of Batticaloa was authorized by the Cabinet of Ministers.
