Four countries’ postal services are momentarily interrupted. The Department of Posts said that acceptance of postal shipments for the United States, the Netherlands, Israel, and Russia has been temporarily halted due to the suspension and restriction of flights to Sri Lanka due to the fuel crisis.
Negotiations with international airlines to reinstate mail delivery to the aforementioned locations, according to Postmaster Ranjith Ariyaratne, are in progress.
He said that the country’s mail transport operations had been delayed as a result of the difficulty in procuring enough fuel.
