Fuel from Malaysia. According to Kanchana Wijesekera, Minister of Energy, Malaysia has agreed to sell fuel to Sri Lanka. He claimed that Sri Lanka has submitted a request for purchase of fuel from the Prime minister of Malaysia.
The Minister stated that Malaysia is likely to supply 50,000 metric tons of gasoline and 10,000 metric tons of kerosene. According to him, the first two fuel shipments require payment from the Sri Lankan Government.
He explained that the decision was made to divide the petrol supply into two consignments of 30,000 and 20,000 MT each and deliver it via two tiny ships because it had proven impossible to locate the required vessels.
