Indian support for Sri Lanka. According to the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka, India would continue to support the people of Sri Lanka as they fight to realize their ambitions for prosperity and growth via democratic practices, ideals, established institutions, and a constitutional framework.

At a media briefing yesterday, the Ministry of External Affairs’ Spokesperson stated that India was looking forward to an early resolution of the situation involving the Sri Lankan Government and its leadership through democratic means and values, established institutions, and constitutional framework.

The Spokesperson further stated that India will assist the people of Sri Lanka in every way feasible in their search for a solution.

In a statement, the High Commission stated that India’s ‘Neighborhood First’ policy and the SAGAR – Security and Growth for All in the Region – vision are strengthened by the commitment India has shown in assisting the Sri Lankan people in addressing the challenges arising out of the current situation in Sri Lanka.

The spokesperson stressed that India swiftly finalized and supplied aid as well as support of about US$ 3.8 billion in 2022 and noted that India acted quickly to help the people of Sri Lanka overcome their economic woes.
