The Irrigation Department has issued a Minor flood warning, citing significant rainfall in the Gin River basin’s upstream areas.
As a result, minor flooding may occur in the low-lying areas of Welivitiya – Divithura, Baddegama, Kotopola, Hikkaduwa, Niagama, Neluwa, Thavalama, Akmeemana, Nagoda, Elpitiya, Bope Poddala, and Galle Four Gravets Divisional Secretariats within the next 24 hours.
Furthermore, the Irrigation Department advised residents as well as drivers of vehicles passing through those areas to pay close attention to weather changes and water levels.
