JVP reiterates that an election is the only solution. The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) maintained today that the country should be quickly returned to normal under an Interim g=Government and go for elections to fulfill people’s desires, asserting that the movement was not just to remove President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the head of the JVP, claimed in a special statement that the current Parliament does not accurately reflect the actual desires and wants of the people and that a chance should be provided for a fresh mandate.

The expulsion of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was simply one goal of this battle, according to parliamentarian Dissanayake; a systemic change was also the goal.
