Former President and current Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Chairman MP Maithripala Sirisena has called on the government to resign in order to make way for an all-party government comprised of representatives from all parties.
He made these remarks yesterday after attending an event in Kandy (3).
He added that the incumbent Government is totally incapable of resolving the issues that have arisen in the country.
This comes after SLFP MP Duminda Dissanayake claimed that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa accomplished in two and a half years what LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran attempted and failed to accomplish in 30 years – destroying the country’s economy.
“Prabhakaran wanted to bring this country’s economy to its knees. That is why he launched attacks in Colombo and committed so many other acts. But we understand now that President Gotabaya Rajapaksa did in two and a half years what Prabhakaran could not do in 30 years,” he told a media briefing in Colombo last Friday (1).
